Las inscripciones para la octava edición del Festival Internacional de Cine Documental Encuentros del Otro Cine (EDOC) están abiertas. EDOC es la más grande celebración del cine documental en Ecuador. Se lleva a cabo desde 2002 en Quito, Guayaquil y ocasionalmente Cuenca y Manta. Anualmente exhibe alrededor de 70 películas con lo más representativo de la producción documental contemporánea, con especial énfasis en el documental ecuatoriano, además de filmes clásicos y retrospectivas. La próxima edición se desarrollará del 7 al 24 de mayo de 2009. Algunos de los invitados que han visitado los EDOC son el legendario Albert Maysles (EEUU), Patricio Guzmán (Chile), Carles Bosch (España), Fernando ‘Pino’ Solanas (Argentina), Andrei Paunov (Bulgaria), Marcus Vetter (Alemania), Mariana Arruti (Argentina), Gonzalo Arijón (Uruguay) y Lucía Gajá (México) entre otros.

The call for submissions is now open for the eighth edition of Encuentros del Otro Cine International Documentary Film Festival (EDOC). EDOC is a celebration of exciting and inventive documentary films from around the world. It takes place since 2002 in Quito and Guayaquil and, occasionally, in Cuenca and Manta. Next year’s edition will run from the 7th to the 24th of May, 2009. EDOC annually screens around 70 films that are representative of contemporary documentary film production as well as classic films and retrospectives.
Some of the past guests who have come to EDOC are the legendary Albert Maysles (US); Patricio Guzmán (Chile), one of the most representative documentary filmmakers in Latin America; Carles Bosch (Spain), Oscar nominee; Fernando ‘Pino’ Solanas (Argentina); Andrei Paunov (Bulgaria); Marcus Vetter (Alemania); Mariana Arruti (Argentina); Gonzalo Arijón (Uruguay) and Lucía Gajá (México) among others.
